What is a verified view? How Instagram actually counts views

Every influencer report you have ever received says "views". Almost none of them mean the same thing. Here is what the words actually mean, and which number you should be paying for.

The numbers Instagram gives

Views — Instagram's primary metric since 2024: counted when your reel or post is shown, with replays counted for reels. This is the number creators see in their own insights.

Reach — unique accounts that saw the content at least once. Always lower than views.

Impressions — the ads-world word: times the content was served, whether anyone watched or not. This is what Meta ads sell.

The gap matters: a reel can have 100,000 views from 60,000 reached accounts, while an ad can log 100,000 impressions that were each skipped in under a second.

Why screenshots are not verification

Most influencer reporting is a screenshot of the creator's own insights. Screenshots have three problems: they can be edited in thirty seconds, they capture one moment of a number that keeps drifting, and they cannot be audited later. Entire campaign reports are routinely assembled this way.

What "verified" means on INFLOK

A verified view on INFLOK is defined precisely:

The campaign settles on the frozen figure: hit the guarantee or the shortfall is refunded pro-rata, automatically.

The 14-day freeze exists because live numbers drift forever. A number that keeps moving can never be settled honestly; a frozen one can be put on an invoice.
